Earlier
in 2015 I took an overnight bus ride with my mum to Copenhagen. We only stayed one night and went back to Berlin the next day. When you only have one and a half day in a city, you want to make sure to see as much as you can in that time. And if you are on a budget you want to make sure that the activities cost als little as possible. Here's the stuff we did:
Take a stroll through the city center
Take a stroll through the city center
The
best and cheapest way to explore a city is still by walking (or
cycling) through its streets. As we didn't have a lot of time, we only walked through the center and didn't explore other (and more alternative) parts of Copenhagen.

You have to eat at least one Hotdog. No, like you HAVE to |
Det Kongelige Bibliotek
The
place I probably liked the most was the Royal Library Garden. It's very idyllic and calm, imagine just how nice it must be in the summer. The Royal Library itself is very modern and right next to the riverside. If you like architecture, this is a must-see, it also has a nice little Coffe Shop inside. I could definitely see myself studying there.

Magasin
Du Nord
Even
if you don't want to spend your time shopping, I would recommend to
take a look at the Magasin Du Nord. You can look at fancy danish
homeware and designer stuff, that you would never be able to afford.
On the second floor you can go into the old room of Hans Christian Andersen who lived there in the 1840's.
Walk
through Christianshavn (+ Christiania)
An
obvious must-do in Copenhagen is the Christianshavn area. We strolled around
the little streets, looked at the cute colorful houses and sat by the canal. Although I
kind of felt like invading peoples home, the "Freetown" Christiania is a cool place, that you can definitley check out. (I obviously didn't take photos of it)
Visit
the Little Mermaid in + Danish Design Museum
I
always find taking the public transport in a different place quite
interesting, so we decided to take the train to Osterport Station to see the Little Mermaid in Langelinie. It's a
very touristic place, but it's for free and the walk through the park around the Kastellet is very nice. A couple of minutes away is the Danish Design Museum which is free for students and quite interesting.
Explore
the city from the water
If
your legs are tired from walking, why not hopp on a boat? In this
very expensive city I was surprised how affordable a boat tour is. If you've already walked through almost the whole city center like we did, the tour won't show you many new places. But it's still a cool way to see the city from a different perspective.
Copenhagen, I'm not done with you yet! See you next time with more time than one day!
